I regret to announce the death of our dear friend Aimée G. Bolaños (Cienfuegos, 1943 - Brazil, 2025) after being run over in the Brazilian city where she lived.
Aimée was a renowned Cuban poet and essayist, currently dedicated to university teaching (in Brazil and Canada) after working for years in her native Cuba.
At Betania, we published four of her books: the essay *Insular Poetry of an Infinite Sign. A Reading of Cuban Poets of the Diaspora* (2008), in which she delved into the poetry of Juana Rosa Pita, Alina Galliano, and Carlota Caulfield; two collections of poems: *Traveling Words* (2010) and *Vision of a Woman with Wings* (2016); and the fiction collection *Scribes* (2013).
This sudden and unexpected death has shocked all of Aimée's friends, colleagues, and family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences.
REST IN PEACE, my friend Aimée!
